SOIL undertook the details design of the deep foundations of the new suspended Bridge over Pescara river (barrettes). Furthermore, because of the very large thickness of soft clay along the river banks, one of the new embankments had to be constructed substituting the natural soil with polystyrene blocks in order to avoid the otherwhise expected settlements around the piles of locally, preexisting viaducts (use of EPS).
